2011.10.17 In a couple weeks, I'll be heading to Pittsburgh to attend a conference of the Semiotic Society of America, where I will present some work along with my colleague Aurie Hsu and Prof. Matthew Burtner. We will also play a concert of new music, including a brand new work of mine, Duet, for soprano sax and piano. The work will feature a live score generated in the 3d game engine, Unity. I've updated the sound files on this page to play using SoundCloud. This not only means faster loading times and a sleeker interface, but other cool features like the possibility of leaving feedback. (Please do so, if you feel inclined!) I hope to change some other aspects of this page over the next couple months when I can find time--stay tuned.
I have neglected to mention that we have a new furry member of the family, Toru. Upside down, he very much resembles a bat.
2011.08.25 It's been a strange summer, yet somehow peaceful. But the craziness of the school year has begun, and that means lots of projects in the works! On the board: string quartet + computer web game (wha?) site overhaul + more...
2011.05.24 Source and Origins is now up on the works page.
2011.05.17 One year down, 3+ to go. :) It's been a busy but productive spring semester. I'm happy to have some time to concentrate on game programming and to analyze string quartets in preparation for the visiting ensemble this fall. I also have a lot of site updating to do, including posting some new works, with video, photos, etc.--come back soon to see/hear those.

2011.02.04 Happy 2011! I think it's going to be a good year. :) Washington D.C.'s Verge Ensemble will soon be in residence here at UVa! I'm excited to have the chance to work with them and am anxious to hear their realization my new composition, Study No. 2 for flute, bass clarinet, violin, cello, and computer. The concert will feature a diverse program of works by fellow composers in the Composition and Computer Technologies PhD program. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, 8 p.m. For details about this concert, call the McIntire Department of Music at 434.924.3052. I'm also currently collaborating with UVa astronomy student Tim Pennucci on a new work for cello and electronics. It is inspired by efforts to detect gravitational waves via pulsar arrays. The concert will be on April 21st @ The Haven in downtown CVille. More details to come.
2010.12.06 My new work for laptop orchestra will premiere this Friday at Piedmont Virginia Community College's Let There Be Light festival. There will be a lot of different events and exhibitions happening and it's FREE. So bundle up, bring a flashlight, and come enjoy the festivities!

2010.10.20 My electroacoustic piece, Saved By The Drill will be played in a concert this Saturday, October
23rd. (Sorry for the short notice!) Featured on the concert program is composer Adrian Knight.
Saturday Night Experimental at McGuffey This event promises to take us on a journey into the world of experimental
acoustic, electroacoustic and multimedia composition. The program will include works for computer
video and sound, solo cello and laptops. Combining the pre-composed with improvised, the evening
will offer an enticing peek into our promising up-and-coming musical minds. The concert will
feature recent pieces by Adrian Knight, a Yale University-based Swedish composer and by three Ph.D.
students from the Composition and Computer Technologies program at the University of Virginia.
